new artist: julianna swaney

Julianna Swaney creates gorgeous illustrations that take the viewer to another place.  You feel like you’re in the middle of a fairytale, but you’re not always sure this one will have a happy ending.  That’s one of the things I love about Julianna’s work.  Are her subjects in peril?  Have they wandered into a mysterious forest right out of historical folklore?  One thing is certain, Julianna creates pieces that leave you wanting to know more.

I was very lucky to work with Julianna on a show I curated in 2010.  She has remained one of my favorite artists ever since and I am so happy to feature her work on Paper House Press.
